Every new year I like to update my Filofax planner by cleaning out the old pages, adding a new calendar and updated printables. I also like to change the look and color, it just helps motivate me to start off the new year on the right foot. This year I got a little more creative and made my own planner dividers and tabs.
I want to share with you how to make your own dividers and tabs by giving you this Free Planner Dividers and Tabs printable.
How do you make planner dividers and tabs?
It is easy to make your own A5 planner dividers and tabs with my Free Planner Dividers and Tabs by using cardstock or scrapbook paper. You can make the full-size side tabs or the 1/2 sheet top tabs.
I use my top tabs for labeling the months and my side tabs for categories.
How to laminate planner dividers and tabs
This year one of my sons gave me a gift card to Amazon for Christmas. I have always wanted a laminator, it just makes a project seem durable and professional.
I did a little research and decided to go with the Scotch Pro Thermal Laminator. I have used laminators before and have always had trouble with the sheets getting wrinkled and then jamming, which became a real mess to clean up. The Scotch Pro has a never jam technology and so far it is holding true to its claim.
For my dividers, I bought a large pack of scrap book paper. I trimmed the paper to 11 x 8 letter size for my printer. Then just slide it in the paper feed.
Free print your own planner labels
After printing the Free Planner Dividers and Tabs I printed my labels, trimmed and glued them to the tabs lightly. Just enough to hold them in place while they are getting laminated. I have made a printable pdf so you can print your own. Just click the picture below to download.
I then laminated and trimmed around the edges of the dividers and hole punched with my RapEsco punch. It’s the best inexpensive hole punch for A5 planners that I have found.
I hole punch the bottom of the paper and then flip over and hole punch the top, using the taped guide I put on my punch. It took a little tweaking to figure out just where to put the tape but it works like a charm every time and this little gem of a hole punch is a fraction of the cost compared to other A5 hole punches.
I decided this Christmas I would gift myself and try a new hole punch. This Filofax hole punch are much pricier than the RapEsco for sure. But I wanted a quick and mistake proof easy way to punch A5 papers.
I’m glad I spent the money, it works perfectly every time. There are some drawbacks besides price, however. I have found it will only do 2 or 3 sheets of paper at a time and I have to stand and put my weight on the handle when I push. Even with these drawbacks, I find I’m using all the time instead of the RapEsco.
