What You’ll Need To Make This Recipe
Here’s a quick overview of the key ingredients for this recipe. For the full list of ingredients and exact measurements, be sure to check the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Pork chops: I like 1-inch thick boneless pork chops, but bone-in chops work too. Just watch the cook time; you will need to add a few minutes if there is a bone.
- Ghee: Adds a rich buttery flavor and gives the pork chops a golden brown. You can substitute olive oil or avocado oil.
- Granny Smith apples: Their tartness balances the sweet glaze, but Honeycrisp or Fuji are delicious too.
- Brown sugar: Adds a warm sweetness to the glaze. You can swap with maple syrup for a natural touch.
- Cinnamon & nutmeg: Classic cozy spices that make the apples shine.
- Cornstarch: Helps thicken the glaze just slightly as it bakes.
- Apple juice: Use 100% juice for the best flavor. Cider works too for deeper fall vibes.
- Fresh rosemary: Adds a lovely aroma. Dried works in a pinch, but use less.
How To Make Apple Roasted Pork Chops
Prep Glaze and Apples
Grab a jar or bowl and mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, garlic powder, cornstarch, and apple juice. Shake or whisk it really well until that cornstarch completely disappears.
Peel, core, and chop up the Granny Smith apples into small cubes. You can slice them if you prefer – totally up to you!

Buy Now → Sear Pork Chops and Add Apples
Sear the pork chops for 2-3 minutes per side until they’re beautifully browned. Take the skillet off the heat, blot up any excess fat with paper towels, then put it back on medium heat.
Spread apples over pork chops.

Pour and Bake
I pour the glaze evenly over everything in the skillet, then tuck in a couple of rosemary sprigs. Cover the whole skillet tightly with foil and bake for 15–20 minutes if you’re using boneless chops, or 20–25 minutes for bone-in. You’ll know it’s ready when the pork reaches 145°F in the center.

Variations, Substitutions, and Recipe Tips
Dietary Modifications:
Make it dairy-free by swapping ghee with avocado oil or olive oil.
Flavor Enhancements:
Add thinly sliced onions with the apples for a deeper savory note.
Toss in a handful of chopped walnuts for a little crunch.
Simple Substitutions:
Use bone-in pork chops; just add a few minutes to the cooking time.
Replace brown sugar with maple syrup or coconut sugar for a less processed option.
Tips for Recipe Success:
- Slice apples evenly so they cook at the same rate. We don’t want applesauce.
- Don’t skip searing the pork; it locks in moisture and builds flavor.
- Don’t overbake. Check the temperature of the meat every 15 minutes to avoid drying out.

Gina’s Notes and Tips
- Use a cast iron skillet: It goes from stovetop to oven beautifully and gives the pork chops a great sear.
- Pork chop thickness matters: Aim for 1-inch thick chops so they cook evenly and stay juicy.
- Don’t skip the sear: Browning the chops adds a lot of flavor and helps them hold up during roasting.
- Prep the glaze ahead: You can whisk the glaze in the morning and store it in the fridge until ready to use.
To reheat: Warm gently in a covered skillet over low heat, or reheat in the oven at 300°F until heated through. If things look a little dry, I like to splash in a bit of extra apple juice to keep everything moist and flavorful.
To freeze: You can freeze cooked pork chops and apples for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat as above.

I think the cooking time and temperature is way off. I had to crank it up to 400 after 20 minutes because the apples and sauce hadn’t even started to soften and come together. The flavor was nice.
Thanks for sharing. I know stoves can run different in temperature and cooking times can fluctuate. I suggested preheat to 350 degrees so the pork chops are going into a hot oven. I mentioned pork is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit. I’m glad you enjoyed the flavor.
