A white bowl filled with vibrant red chili oil, featuring a golden spoon resting inside. The oil has a glossy surface with some visible chili residue. The edge of a smaller bowl is partially visible in the foreground.

Instead of buying Blove’s prepackaged Smackalicious Sauce Mix, I whip up the sauce at home with simple ingredients like Cajun seasoning, cayenne pepper, and a mix of bold spices—no fillers needed. The best part? It doesn’t take hours in the kitchen. In just 25 minutes, I’ve got a delicious dipping sauce for seafood, chicken, and even veggies.

What I love most is how easy it is to customize. I can turn up the heat or tweak the recipe to fit dietary needs. And when life gets hectic, I just make a big batch, freeze portions, and have this flavorful sauce ready anytime!

Ingredients You Will Need For Blove’s Sauce Recipe

Here are the bold spices and savory seasonings that create a delicious Blove’s sauce recipe.

  • Spices: You’ll want sweet paprika, mild to medium heat cayenne pepper, finely ground ginger, moderate chili powder, and a balanced mix of Cajun seasoning. Make sure that these spices are fresh and pure without fillers.
  • Seasonings: For this recipe, you’ll need garlic powder, onion powder, lemon pepper, and Old Bay seasoning. Check the expiration date to ensure freshness and make sure they’re well sealed.
  • Herbs And Aromatics: Look for dried oregano, fresh garlic, and yellow onion for the best flavor. I like to use Mexican oregano for its robust flavor.
  • Worcestershire sauce: Opt for the classic Worcestershire sauce because of its rich umami flavor. It should be near its best by date and made of natural ingredients.
  • Vegetable stock: Look for high-quality vegetable stock made of natural ingredients. You’ll want those packaged in tetra packs or glass bottles to indicate a fresher flavor.
  • Brown sugar: I recommend using light brown sugar because its sweetness isn’t overpowering the other flavors of the sauce. Watch out for any clumps.
  • Butter: Choose unsalted butter to season the sauce exactly how you like. For more flavor, look for grass-fed butter.

Variations and Substitutions

  • If you want a vegetarian version of the Blove’s seafood sauce recipe, use vegan Worcestershire sauce and plant-based butter or coconut oil.
  • Replace brown sugar with honey for floral sweetness or maple syrup for a richer flavor. If you’re watching your sugar intake, use coconut sugar instead.
  • To reduce the spice level, reduce the amount of chili powder and cayenne pepper. You can also substitute cayenne pepper with paprika.
  • For a spicier version, increase the amount of cayenne pepper or add fresh jalapenos.
  • Run out of Cajun seasoning? Combine paprika, onion powder, thyme, garlic powder, and a pinch of cayenne.
  • For a richer flavor, substitute vegetable stock with chicken stock or beef broth.
  • If you like the sauce to be more tangy, replace lemon pepper with a combination of fresh lemon juice or lemon zest and black pepper.
  • Add heavy cream, coconut cream, or cream cheese to make the sauce creamier.

How To Make Blove’s Sauce Recipe

Making Blove’s Sauce is as easy as tossing spices and butter into a  pan—just follow these few simple steps, and you’ll have the perfect dipping sauce for your next meal.

In a bowl, add all the spices, herbs, and seasonings: paprika, cayenne pepper, ground ginger, chili powder, Cajun seasoning, dried oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, lemon pepper, and Old Bay seasoning. Using a spoon, stir to mix everything together until well-combined. This is your spice mix.

Next, prepare your garlic and onion to make a paste. Peel garlic cloves, then peel and chop onion. Add them to your food processor, then pulse in short bursts until the mixture looks like a paste.

In a large, high-sided frying pan, melt butter over medium heat. Once the butter is melted and starts to bubble, add the garlic mixture. Saute for about 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it becomes fragrant and softened.

Now, stir in your vegetable stock and Worcestershire sauce, then stir well to combine. Add your prepared spice mix to the pan and stir everything together. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes to meld all the flavors together.

After simmering, you can serve the sauce immediately or blend it for a smoother texture. If you want the latter, carefully pour the sauce into a food processor. Blend the sauce on high for about a minute until it reaches your desired smooth consistency.

Consider adding a little more vegetable stock if the sauce comes out too thick.

Serve the sauce in a small bowl or mason jar. It’s best served alongside a platter of boiled seafood, crispy fries, or fried chicken. You can also drizzle the sauce over the top of grilled fish or grilled vegetables like asparagus and potatoes.

Gina’s Tips For Recipe Success

  • Blending the sauce after simmering is optional, but it’s necessary if you want a velvety finish. You can skip this step if you like some texture in your sauce.
  • I recommend making the sauce ahead of time because the taste gets even better after it sits for several hours.
  • Make sure to mix all the spices thoroughly to ensure that the flavors are evenly distributed when you stir them into the sauce.
  • Adjust the sauce according to what you’re serving with. If you want to use it for seafood, add more lemon pepper for extra freshness. Add more Old Bay seasoning to create more depth for your hearty dish like chicken.

Leftover Tips

Any leftovers of this sauce won’t go to waste because they store well in the fridge or freezer. After cooling the sauce to room temperature, transfer in an airtight container or freezer-safe container. The sauce can stay good in the fridge for up to a week and even longer in the freezer for up to 6 months.

When you’re ready to serve the refrigerated sauce again, reheat on the stovetop over low heat or in the microwave in short intervals. Stir occasionally to prevent the separation of ingredients. If frozen, you can thaw it overnight in the fridge or reheat directly in a saucepan over low heat.
