Golden turmeric latte is one of my favorite ways to turn an ordinary cup of coffee into something warm, creamy, and full of cozy spice. Made with espresso, maple syrup, cinnamon, and turmeric, this easy drink takes just 10 minutes and is just as good for a quiet morning at home as it is for sharing with a friend around the kitchen table.

I like that most of the ingredients are already in my pantry, and I can make two mugs in just a few minutes. When I’m having friends over for breakfast or brunch, I usually serve this turmeric latte with coffee alongside a simple banana chocolate chip muffin or slice of coffee cake. It’s an easy way to make people feel cared for, and no fancy coffee equipment is required.
Main Ingredients
Here’s a quick overview of the key ingredients for this recipe. For the full list of ingredients and exact measurements, jump to the recipe card.

Helpful Ingredient Tips
- Milk: I usually reach for whole milk when I want an extra creamy latte, but whatever milk you enjoy drinking will work well here. Start with cold milk so it heats gently and stays smooth and creamy.
- Turmeric powder: Check that your turmeric is bright yellow-orange and fragrant. Older spices can lose their flavor and color over time, so a fresh jar will give the best results. One little tip I’ve learned is to clean up any spills right away since turmeric loves to leave yellow stains behind if it sits too long.
- Ground cinnamon: Fresh cinnamon has the best flavor, but any ground cinnamon from your pantry will work.
- Maple syrup: Use pure maple syrup rather than pancake syrup for the cleanest flavor.
- Espresso: Regular or decaf both work well. I like to brew the espresso just before making the latte for the richest coffee flavor.
How To Make Golden Turmeric Latte
This recipe is quick enough for busy mornings and easy enough for first-time latte makers.

Steps 1 and 2: Whisk together the milk, turmeric powder, cinnamon, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and espresso in a medium saucepan until everything is well combined.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and warm the mixture until it is very hot but not boiling. Whisk often to keep the milk smooth and prevent it from scorching. Taste the latte and adjust with a little more maple syrup, turmeric, or cinnamon if desired. Pour into two mugs and serve warm.
Tip: If you like an extra creamy latte, give it a quick whirl with a milk frother or immersion blender right before serving. It creates a light foam on top and blends the spices beautifully.
Should I add black pepper to turmeric coffee?
A tiny pinch of black pepper is completely optional, but some people like to add it because piperine, a natural compound in black pepper, can help the body absorb curcumin from turmeric. Just use a small pinch so the pepper doesn’t change the flavor of your latte. You can also add a little coconut oil or use whole milk for a richer texture.
Is turmeric coffee healthy?
Turmeric contains curcumin, a plant compound that has been studied for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I like to think of this recipe as a warm, flavorful coffee drink that just happens to include turmeric, not as a health remedy or weight-loss drink. If you’re pregnant, take medications, or have digestive concerns, it’s always a good idea to check with your healthcare provider before using large amounts of turmeric on a regular basis.
Variations
- Choose your favorite milk. This latte is delicious with dairy or plant-based milk. I especially like oat milk because it makes the drink extra creamy, but coconut milk adds a lovely richness, too. Use whichever you enjoy most or already have in the refrigerator.
- Adjust the sweetness. Add a little more maple syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink, or slightly less if you enjoy more spice-forward flavors.
- Serve it iced. This latte is just as tasty chilled. Let it cool for a few minutes, then pour it over a glass of ice for an easy afternoon pick-me-up that’s perfect on warm days.
- No espresso machine? Don’t let that stop you from making this latte. You can use ¼ cup of strong brewed coffee or 1 teaspoon of instant espresso powder dissolved in 2 tablespoons of hot water, and it will still turn out rich and delicious.
Make Ahead Tips
- If you want to get a head start, you can make the latte ahead and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- When you’re ready to serve it, warm it gently on the stove or in the microwave and give it a good whisk before pouring it into mugs. I sometimes do this when I’m hosting brunch or breakfast because it makes things feel even more relaxed.
- I also like setting up a little drink station so everyone can help themselves. If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, my coffee bar ideas for your kitchen counter share some of my favorite simple ways to create a warm and welcoming spot for gathering.

what can I use if I dont have an espresso machine
Linda, I found the best new product while at walmart in Evans. It’s called Nescafe Gold Espresso (Blond) It’s makes the esspresso by adding water to the powder and it’s a bit creamy too. I got it for making quick espresso for cake but ended up liking it for drinks too.
