Easter story snack mix is a clear, hands-on way to share the meaning of the resurrection through a sweet snack and conversation. Each ingredient in this sweet-and-salty mix represents a part of the Easter story, making it especially helpful for kids, Sunday school, or family gatherings. You can prepare it ahead of time, portion it into bags, and use it as a hands-on teaching moment that feels natural and memorable, not forced.
This is one of my favorite make-ahead treats to prep in snack bags or little cups. It’s great for sparking conversation, encouraging reflection, and even creating a sweet memory your guests will carry with them long after Easter Sunday.
What Is Easter Story Snack Mix
Easter story snack mix is a sweet-and-salty snack in which each ingredient represents a part of the Easter story, such as the cross, the empty tomb, and the joy of the resurrection. It is often used as a hands-on way to teach kids about Jesus during Easter through food and conversation.
- No prep stress: Just mix and serve. No baking needed.
- Meaningful and interactive: Each ingredient represents part of the Easter story, making it easy to talk through together.
- Great for groups: Perfect for Sunday school, brunch, or family devotion time. Serve in cups or baggies.
- Sweet and salty mix: A fun combination everyone will enjoy.
- Make ahead friendly: Prep it the night before for an easy Easter morning.
- Printable bag toppers included: Use the printable Easter story guide with Bible verses so guests can follow along and take the message home.
Ingredient Needed
Here’s a quick overview of the key ingredients for this recipe. For the full list of ingredients and exact measurements, be sure to check the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

- Pretzel sticks: Represent the cross on which Jesus was crucified. Choose thin sticks for the best symbolic shape.
- Craisins: Symbolize Jesus’ blood. Dried cranberries give a vibrant color and slightly tart contrast.
- Round mini vanilla wafers: Represent the stone rolled away from the tomb. Ritz or similar buttery rounds work beautifully.
- Goldfish gram cracker flavor: Remind us that Jesus calls us to be fishers of men. I found cake batter graham cracker goldfish, but you can use plain or colorful varieties for fun! The saltiness goes well with the sweet treats.
- White marshmallows: These represent how Jesus washed away our sins. It’s best to use mini-sized marshmallows.
- Colorful sweet treats: I used pastel M&Ms; however, if you prefer, use jelly beans or chocolate eggs. Symbolize the joy and sweetness of God’s goodness. Choose pastel colors for a festive look.

How to Teach the Easter Story Using This Snack Mix
- To enhance the meaning of this snack mix, I’ve created a downloadable printable guide that includes bag toppers. These toppers explain the significance of each ingredient in the mix, along with corresponding Bible verses. This makes it perfect for:
- Family devotion time
- Easter gatherings
- Homeschool activities
- Sunday school classes
How to Use It:
Print the guide and bag toppers handout. I suggest using cardstock for the bag toppers page. Make your Easter Story Snack Mix recipe. You can serve in a large bowl or fill individual snack bags.
As everyone enjoys their snack, introduce each ingredient, read the verse aloud, and talk about its application to the Easter Story.
Here’s a preview of what’s inside:
Pretzel Sticks – The Cross
Colossians 2:14 – “By canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.”
Raisins / Craisins – Jesus’ Blood
Ephesians 1:7 – “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.”
Round Cracker – The Stone Was Rolled Away
Luke 24:2 – “And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.”
Goldfish – Be Fishers of Men
Matthew 4:19 – “And he said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.'”
White Marshmallows / Popcorn – Our Sins Are Washed Away
1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Sweet Treats – Taste and See That the Lord Is Good
Psalm 34:8 – “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”
Discussion Questions:
- Why did Jesus die on the cross?
- What does it mean that our sins are washed away?
- How can we be “fishers of men” like Jesus asked?
- Why is Jesus’ resurrection important?
- How have you seen God’s goodness in your life?
Activity Idea: After making the snack mix, invite kids to share it with someone and explain what each ingredient means. It’s a hands-on way to share the gospel and reinforce the message.

Easter Hospitality
Easter is a beautiful reminder that even simple moments around the table can point to something eternal. As you share this snack mix, let it open the door to meaningful conversation and connection. Your table does not have to be perfect to make an impact. It just needs to be open.
If you’re hosting Easter this year, here is an easy, traditional Easter menu that’s perfect for a gathering. A glazed marmalade crusted ham is the centerpiece, served with potato salad, cream cheese deviled eggs, corn casserole, and pineapple casserole. Finish with a carrot Bundt cake with cream cheese frosting for an easy, festive dessert that brings it all together.
