Dipping Good Cold Cream Cheese Salsa Dip

This is a unique dip because it’s super cheesy, but it’s cold and creamy. Also, it’s very customizable; if you want a spicy dip, all you have to do is choose a spicy salsa to mix in. I like to add some extra sweet heat by stirring in pickled jalapenos.

Ingredients You Will Need To Buy

Ingredients needed to make cream cheese salsa dip
  • Cream cheeses: To get a smooth, creamy dip, it’s very important to allow your cream cheese to soften to room temperature. If you are in a hurry, using the soften setting on your microwave would also work.
  • Sour cream: I suggest full-fat sour cream for the richest-tasting dip.
  • Seasoning: You can use my homemade taco seasoning or your favorite store brand.
  • Salsa: Here is where you can get creative. Buy your favorite brand sales. You can choose spicy, mild, chunky, or smooth. I like salas with beans or corn also in this recipe.
  • Cheese: I usually use cheddar cheese, but if I’m making it for someone who likes heat, I will use pepper jack cheese.
  • Green onions: This is a nice mild onion that balances the cheeses. Slice it very thin, using all of the white parts and the green tops.
  • Pickled Jalapenos: We love my homemade candy, aka pickled jalapenos. However, you can also find a jar of sweet and spicy pickled jalapenos in the pickle aisle of your local grocery store.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese , Softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning, You can use my recipe for homemade taco seasoning or buy your favorite store brand.
  • ½ cup salsa , Your favorite variety
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, Finely shredded
  • 2 green onions, Thinly slice the white and green parts of the onion
  • ¼ cup pickled jalapenos , Finely chopped. These can be omitted but if you like your spice level turned up toss in some more. Use my recipe for cowboy candy or buy a jar at your local grocery.

Instructions

  • Unwrap the cream cheese and place it in a medium bowl microwave-safe bowl. Set the microwave to soften, checking it every 30 seconds or so. If you do not have a soft setting, heat the cream cheese at 20% power for 30-second intervals. The goal is to have the cream cheese very soft but not melted. This will help make your dip creamy and smooth.
