Ingredients Needed
To make a delectable Twix Ice Cream Cake Recipe, you’ll need these ingredients.
- Twix mini candy bars: These are one of the key ingredients in making the ice cream layer of the cake. Check the expiration date when buying Twix in the grocery store because the freshest bars provide the best taste and texture. I use the caramel flavor for its classic taste.
- Vanilla ice cream: To ensure the best quality, choose brands that use pure vanilla extract. I use the vanilla bean ice cream to get the most authentic flavor.
- Shortbread cookies: These biscuit-style cookies are used to make the cake’s crust. To ensure quality, look for reputable brands like Pepperidge Farms Dublin shortbreads.
- Butter: Choose the sweet cream butter, as its mildly sweet flavor complements the rich ice cream layer.
- Chocolate syrup: To make your ice cream cake, replicate a Twix bar and top the cake with chocolate syrup. If possible, choose a milk chocolate flavor to match the milk chocolate from Twix.
- Caramel syrup: Twix candy combines chocolate and caramel flavors, so you want to pick up a bottle of squeezable caramel syrup on top of the cake.

Gina’s Tips For Recipe Success
- Before using the ice cream in the recipe, leave it at room temperature for 10-15 minutes to soften and spread easily over the crust.
- Line the cake pan with parchment paper or use a springform pan for easy removal.
- Let the cake rest at room temperature for about 10 minutes to make it easier to cut into slices.
- Use a warm knife to cut the cake into clean slices before serving.
Variation Ideas
- Swap vanilla ice cream with different flavors of ice cream like chocolate ice cream, strawberry ice cream, and mint chocolate chip ice cream.
- For extra crunch and texture, try adding nuts to the ice cream layer.
- Instead of shortbread cookies, you can try peanut butter cookies and chocolate chip cookies to make the crust.
Storing Leftovers
The only way to store your leftover ice cream cake is in the freezer. It is good to eat for up to 1-2 weeks. Here are steps on how to store it properly.
- Wrap the leftover cake in foil or plastic wrap tightly.
- Put the wrapped cake inside a freezer-safe dish or airtight container to double its protection from freezer burns.
- Label the cake to be guided for the expiration date.
When serving the cake, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before slicing.
