The Stand 12 drink is a colorful layered beverage inspired by the famous Masters Tournament concession stands. Made with pink lemonade, Sprite, and blue Powerade, this refreshing drink is simple to make and perfect for a Masters watch party.
What Is The Masters Stand 12 Drink?
Years ago, patrons attending the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club began noticing a colorful layered drink people were carrying around the course. The bright blue-and-pink layered beverage quickly caught attention, and curious fans kept asking where it came from.
The answer was always the same. Concession Stand 12.
I asked a concession worker about the drink the following year, and she said, “An employee had started layering blue Powerade, Sprite, and pink lemonade together to create a fun drink for patrons.” The colorful combination quickly became a fan favorite during that year’s tournament.
However, the following year, Augusta National reportedly stopped allowing concession workers to mix drinks. Patrons were told they were no longer allowed to make “concoction drinks.”
The good news is you can still recreate the Stand 12 drink at home. With just three ingredients and a simple layering technique, this colorful beverage is a fun addition to any golf-themed gathering, Masters watch party, or summer get-together.

What Ingredients are needed to make a Masters Stand 12 Drink?
Here’s a quick overview of the key ingredients for this recipe. For the full list of ingredients and exact measurements, be sure to check the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

- Pink lemonade: I suggest purchasing Minute-Maid since the National has Coco-Cola in their concession stands. Do not use diet lemonade. You need the sugar to make the lemonade heavy so it layers nicely.
- Blue Powerade: You could also use Gatorade if you prefer.
- Sprite: You can use 7up or any other lemon-lime fizzy soda.
- Ice: Essential for keeping the drink chilled and helping layers hold.
Can I Use Diet Beverages?
It’s best to stick with regular (non-diet) drinks since sugar helps maintain the layered effect. Diet versions may cause the colors to blend too quickly.
How to Make the Secret Masters Stand 12 Drink

- Prepare Your Glass: Fill a clear glass halfway with ice to keep the drink cold.
- First Layer – Pink Lemonade: Pour pink lemonade into the glass, filling about one-third of the way.
- Second Layer – Sprite: Slowly pour Sprite over the back of a spoon to gently create the next layer.
- Final Layer – Blue Powerade: Again, pour blue Powerade over a spoon to keep it from mixing too quickly.
- Serve Immediately! Enjoy the vibrant colors before stirring.
Tips For Layering The Stand 12 Drink
There are a few tricks to getting the perfect layered drink, and would you believe using a spoon is the most important? Layering a cocktail with a spoon involves slowly pouring the ingredients over the back of a spoon to create distinct layers in the drink. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to layer a cocktail with a spoon:
- Chill the glass: Start by chilling the glass in the freezer for a few minutes before you begin layering the drink. Chilling will help the layers to settle and create a cleaner line between them. If the recipe calls for ice, add it at this stage.
- Add the heaviest liquid first: Pour the heaviest liquid into the glass first. This is usually a syrup, juice, or liqueur that will form the drink’s base.
- Place a spoon over the glass: Take a spoon and place it upside down over the top of the glass so that the rounded side faces up.
- Pour the next liquid slowly: Slowly pour the next liquid over the back of the spoon, allowing it to trickle into the glass. The spoon helps slow the flow of the liquid, preventing it from mixing with the first layer. Pour the liquid in a circular motion to create an even layer.
- Repeat: Repeat this process for each layer of liquid, pouring each one slowly and evenly. You may need to adjust the spoon’s angle or the pour’s speed for the best results. Practice makes perfect.
- Add garnish: Once all the layers are in place, you can garnish the top of the drink. A garnish could be a citrus wedge, a sprig of herbs, or anything else that complements the cocktail’s flavors.
Remember, layering a cocktail takes practice, so don’t be discouraged if your first attempt isn’t perfect. Keep practicing and experimenting with different combinations of ingredients to find your perfect layered cocktail.
