Every Christmas, my grandkids and I make these Pretzel Christmas Treats together, and it’s one of our favorite holiday traditions. They’re super easy, which makes them perfect for little hands, and I love how quickly they come together. It takes us just ten minutes to whip up a big batch! All we need are pretzels, chocolate, and some red and green M&Ms, so it’s simple enough that the kids can help with every step.

The best part is watching my grandkids decorate each pretzel. They have so much fun adding the M&Ms and sprinkling on all the festive holiday colors. It’s like a mini art project for them, and I love seeing how creative they get with each treat! Plus, the sweet and salty mix of pretzels and chocolate is so delicious that we all end up sneaking a few before they’ve even finished cooling.

Ingredients Needed

You only need for simple ingredients. The hardest part is unwrapping the kisses. However, sampling along the way makes the job easier.

  • Mini pretzels: Buy your favorite brand.
  • Hershey’s Kisses and Hershey’s Hugs (White Chocolate with Milk Chocolate Stripes)
  • Red and green M&Ms
  • Sprinkles: You can use any festive sprinkles you have on hand. This is a great recipe to use up leftover sprinkles from your Christmas cookies.

How To Make Pretzel Chrismas Treats

It will only take a few minutes to make these yummy treats once you unwrap your kisses and hugs.

  • Top each pretzel with a chocolate kiss.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 3-4 minutes until the chocolate looks shiny and has started to melt but still holds its shape. Be careful not to bake too long.

Variation Ideas

You can make these easy Christmas pretzels with various Kisses, although I’d avoid the ones with soft-filled centers as that could get messy. Pick your favorite flavor. Candy Cane Kisses, Dark Chocolate Kisses, or Cookies and Cream Kisses are all great options for making these pretzel treats.

Recipe Tips and Ideas

Melting Kisses and Hugs Tip

  •  If you decide to use different types of Kisses on the same tray, you may notice that some of them melt more quickly than others.
  • Classic milk chocolate kisses need 3-4 minutes in the oven, while hugs only need 2-3 minutes, and get a bit meltier. It’s probably better to use two trays if you are using different Kiss styles.

Easy Gift Idea

If you’re looking for easy gift ideas for neighbors, kids’ party favors, or teachers, these pretzel hugs and kisses make the perfect edible gifts. Add them to a cellophane bag to make a holiday M&M stocking stuffer or gift bag.

Storing Leftovers

Store the Pretzel Christmas Treats in a large, shallow, airtight container. If you’re stacking up multiple layers of these yummy treats, it’s a good idea to put some parchment paper or wax paper between the layers to keep them from sticking together. You can keep them at room temperature or in the fridge if your place is a bit warm. When stored this way, they should stay fresh and tasty for about five days.
