    Cocktail

    • lime juice: Use fresh squeezed, not the green bottle kind.
    • Vodka: Use your favorite unflavored brand
    • Ginger ale: If you want a lower calorie cocktail you could use diet ginger ale
    • Lime: you will need one piecs for a wedge and the rest for lime juice

See the recipe card for a complete list and quantities.

    🔪 Step by step instructions

    Spiced simple syrup

    1. First, make your spiced simple syrup. Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan.

    2. Cook over medium-high heat, occasionally stirring until the sugar has dissolved. This will take about 5 minutes.

    3. Remove from heat and add the cinnamon stick and fresh ginger slices. Allow them to steep in the sugar water for 30 minutes.

    4. Remove and discard the cinnamon stick and pieces of ginger. Cool the spiced simple syrup entirely before using.

    Sugar rim

    1. Pour sugar into a sandwich-size zip lock bag.

    2. Add a few drops of red food coloring. Do not use gel foodcoloring. The basic liquid kind work best.

    3. Seal the bag well and shake to incorporate the food coloring throughout the sugar. If it is too light, add another drop and repeat until you get a nice pink color. If you want a red sugar rim, add a few more drops of the food coloring and shake.

    4. Place sugar in a shallow rimmed plate or bowl.

    5. Wet the edge of your cocktail glass with a wedge of lime. Hold the glass perpendicular to the sugar mixture. Dip the rim of the glass into the sugar mixture and then carefully set it aside.

    Cocktail

    1. Add cranberry juice, spiced sugar syrup, lime juice, and vodka into a cocktail shaker. Shake ingredients well.

    2. Carefully pour into your sugar-rimmed glass, being sure to not get the rim wet.

    3. Add ginger ale, give it a slite, stir and serve.

⭐ Hint: If you do not have a Stainless Steel Cocktail Shaker then a canning jar with a tight-fitting lid will work also.

    ✔️Chilling tip

It is best to prechill your cocktail glass in the freezer for an hour before using it. Starting with a chilled cocktail glass will keep your drink cool longer. This is a plus, so you do not have to add ice and water down your cocktail's flavors.

    ✔️Tip for party planning

If you are planning a party, you can make a large batch of the spiced simple syrup the day before. After making it, allow to cool and then place in a pitcher with a secure lid and refrigerate. It can be stored for several days in your refrigerator. ** Just change the servings number in the recipe card.

    ✔️Make it pretty

Make any cocktail a touch more romantic by sprinkling a few dried rose petals on top of your drink. These rose petals are food-grade, organically grown without GMO, and hand-picked daily before sunrise just as the flower blooms and the rose oil content is high. The petals are then left to dry in the sun before packing for distribution.

    🔀 Variations

    • To make this cocktail lower in sugar, use diet cranberry juice, and diet ginger ale. This will trim off a few calories from the original recipe.
    • If you do not like tart cranberry juice, use sweetened cranberry juice.
    • Add a few slices of fresh strawberries or fresh red raspberries to your glass.
    • Use lemon-lime soda in place of the ginge ale.
    • Switch out the vodka for coconut rum to give your drink a sweeter tropical taste.
    • If you want ice in your cocktail, purchase an ice cube tray that makes one large ice cube for your glass. It will melt slower, so your drink does not get water down as quickly.

    ❓ Cocktail FAQ

How do you decorate a glass for cocktails?

Create a cocktail that not only tastes good but is pretty to look at using sugar or salt rims, cocktail umbrellas, fresh pieces of fruit, swizzle straws, and embellished cocktail picks.

    What is a cocktail rule?

When mixing a cocktail the best rule of drink mixology is to include a spirit, something bitter or tart, and something sweet to achieve a balanced drink. Aim for 3 parts spirits, 2 parts bitter, and 1 part sweet for a delicious cocktail.
