Every year the town of Augusta comes alive the first full week of April as the city hosts the Masters Golf Tournament, one of the most popular PGA tour tournaments. When golf patrons walk onto the course for the first time, they are transported to an oasis of peaceful beauty that tournament TV coverage can not capture.

I can’t get you tickets to the Masters, but I can help you make authentic concession stand copycat recipes to enjoy eating while having a Masters Watch Party.

Why These Recipes Are Authentic

Many copycat recipes on the internet add all kinds of ingredients that Augusta National Golf Club does not have in their recipes. The Masters pimento cheese does not have sour cream, nor does the egg salad have celery or chopped dill pickles in it. The concession stands, sandwiches, and snacks are all made with simple, high-quality ingredients.

How do I know? I live in Augusta, Georgia, and have attended the Masters since high school. I now have 15 grandkids, so that might give you a perspective on how long I have been going.

Each year I bring home a bag of concession stand items to give to family members that did not go and enjoy as a late-night snack watching the highlights on TV. I save the bags for reference, checking to see if they have changed their recipe. However, if Augusta National has something extraordinary, they leave it alone. It’s all about tradition.

Augusta National focuses on perfection, not big and showy but simple perfection in every tiny detail, just like their concessions.

Taste Of The Masters

During the Covid social distancing, Augusta National offered ticket holders the opportunity to buy a boxed package of all their favorite Masters concession food. The only thing needed was a loaf of white bread and a comfy seat to watch the tournament on TV.

  • 1 pound of pimento cheese and egg salad
  • 1.5 pounds of bar-b-que
  • 8 bags of potato chips
  • 6 chocolate chip cookies
  • 6 bags of pecan caramel popcorn
  • 25 Masters cups with the tournament logo
  • Serving paper with the tournament logo.

You get all this for a price tag of $150, with delivery by Friday of the Masters right to your door. This box was just a sampling of what a patron can eat at the Masters Tournament. However, when you are on the course, there are many other great choices for sandwiches, snacks, and desserts.

Masters Concession Stand History

As a kid going to the Masters, I remember the white portable tents that were put up periodically throughout the course for snacks. Patrons would file in a double line from one end, working their way through various sandwiches, snacks and drinks. When they got to the other end of the tent they would pay for all the times they had chosen.

The National has since up its game and now has permanent buildings for its concessions. They even have staff to help patrons with the condiments once they leave the building.

Augusta National explains on their site. “There are seven full-service, open-air concession stands strategically placed around the property, all stocked with the simple assortment of sandwiches, snacks, drinks, and sweets, while friendly concessions staffers ensure a quick pace and shelving that is never empty.”

🍳One thing I must share, I wish the Mastes would bring back the fried egg sandwich! It might seem strange but the simple fried egg with mustard on white bread was one of my favorites!

Azalea Cocktail
This cocktail is not served in the consession stands at the Masters. However, it is served in the club house. This is THE cocktail of the Masters Tournament. In the spring and summer, pink azaleas are in full bloom all over the city, inspiring the name for this pink-colored drink with the flavors of freshly squeezed lemonade and grenadine served with vodka. It's super elegant to shake it with ice and serve in a chilled martini glass or pour over ice in a highball.

Masters Themed Soups and Salads

I have a few recipes I want to be sure to share with you that are not served at the Masters. These recipes are Augusta, GA favorites. They are all influenced by our Augusta National Golf Club and the locals’ love for golf.

Green Jacket Salad Recipe
One of my favorite Augusta restaurants growing up was The Green Jacket. The restaurant is closed now, but the famous Green Jacket salad is a favorite among native Augustans. It is a simple salad with a fresh vinaigrette topped with pita chips. It is easy to prepare for a large group in a bowl for a buffet or plated for a more upscale golf-themed dinner party.

Masters Golf Fun Food Facts

Augusta Masters Menu Board Items and Prices

Why is the Masters’ food so cheap?

The Masters food menu is inexpensive because Augusta National does not need to make a big profit from its food sales. They focus on making the experience for their patrons a high-class, fun event, and part of this includes delicious, inexpensive foods and drinks.

What is the most famous Masters Sandwich?

The most famous sandwich at the Masters is the classic pimento cheese. This icon sandwich has been served at the Masters for over 40+ consecutive years.

Masters Sandwiches In The Concession Stands

What kind of food is served at the Masters?

The Masters serves simple, delicious sandwiches and snacks at a low price in their concession stands. Golf fans can start the day by choosing from the Masters breakfast menu. There is a Chicken Biscuit, Breakfast Sandwich, Blueberry Muffin, and Fresh Mixed Fruit until 10:00 a.m. When patrons get thirsty, there is bottled water with beautiful pictures of the golf course printed on them and iced tea in a souvenir cup. For only $5.00, patrons can get a domestic beer, imported beer, or my favorite, Crow’s Nest beer.
